Share your story about stupid people that you've dealt with lately. Here's mine:

Last week I called the local pizza place and paid with a credit card over the phone. The conversation went like this:

Pizza girl: May I have your credit card # please
Me: (credit card# given)
Pizza girl: Expiration?
Me: October of 2009
Pizza girl: So that's 12?
Me: Huh?
Pizza girl: October...that's 12 right?
Me: Uh, no, that's 10

I just ordered pizza again tonight...same conversation but this time she correctly "guessed" that October was "10". :-)

This is hilarious and sad at the same time. Someone needs to get hooked on phonics.

Don't get me started on our school system.

You should have told her you had two coupons: one for 10% off, another for 5% off and another for 15% off, so your bill should only be half the price.

Keep in mind that 3 out of every 4 people make up 75% of the population.

Sad...

but funny! I'm convinced someone I work with/for is virtually illiterate, but I don't have any funny stories about that.

When it happened last week, as soon as I hung up the phone I said to myself "OMG, I have to share this on Indydads!". Then I got distracted by something...probably the kids.

When it happened again tonight, I didn't let any distractions get in my way! :-)

What's really sad is that my daughter is starting Kindergarten in the same school system that this girl probably attends.

We all know that we are surrounded by stupidity about 75% of the time. It is just sad that people can count, can give change, and don't know the months in a year. It just continues to get worse.

I have long held to the theory that people such as this should be weeded out by natural selection but unfortunately, our societal advances have allowed such stupidity to survive.

Here's one. You all know the elevator company, right? Well, I used to work at a local hospital. I was waiting to get on the elevator after buying some lunch in the cafeteria, which is in the basement. Well, a couple of ladies got on the down elevator at the first floor, by mistake...they were wanting to go up. I get on and one of the ladies was telling me about how they didn't realize the elevator was going down instead of up. So, we stop at 1, because they had pushed the up button. There was an elevator worker there doing some PM on them and he's just standing there and smiled at us. She proceeded to tell HIM the story about getting on the elevator while it was going the wrong way. She ended that conversation with, "Sorry about that, Otis." Turned to me and said, "I guess that's what his name was since it was on his shirt." I almost dropped my lunch.
