Who's getting it, who hates apple, who wishes they weren't stuck in a 2 year agreement with sucky Sprint (sorry, that one is personal)

I don't know, a friend of mine and I were discussing and he made a good point. Aside from using the iPhone between wifi connections is the new 3G really used that frequently, guess it depends on your situation, but I'm at work all day (wifi) go home (wifi) only when I'm out and about would I use the cellular network, and there is some $10 difference between the pricing on the old plan and the new 3G plan. Not to mention the phone isn't all that much updated. Then again I don't have AT&T for phone so any iPhone would require a contract.

Trying to get the employer to buy it for me and stipend my month to month, so in that case i wouldn't even care.

I bought my wife an iPhone for our anniversary last November and have never regretted it. I'm no MacAddict, the iPhone is the only Apple product we own. Even the last gen EDGE network is fast enough for the kinds of sites you are going to visit on a cell phone. Since Flash is not yet supported and you are not download tons of apps like on a PC, you won't really notice the speed issue. Which brings me to another point, when you are not in range of a 3G network, your new iPhone will be no faster than the current gen device. I like that the current gen iPhone has a metal back with the glass screen, the new one is all plastic and a glass screen.

The Glass screen is super tough, head over to cNet to watch a torture test video that I cringed while I watched. The iPhone came out unscathed. The $10 increase in the data plan is partially made up for in the 50% reduction in price from the current model. Over your 24 month contract you will spend only $40 more than if you had bought the current gen phone and plan.

In conclusion, I am way overdue for a new cell phone ( I have had my Sony Ericsson for 3 years ) and I am going to get a new iPhone for my wife and I am going to take her "old" one (bought in November). They are great phones and along with the iPod Touch are the best iPods yet.

Being a Blackberry user, I'd jump at a $199 iPhone. It's ease of use is second to none. The only downfall it has is 90% of the time it requires two hands. However with a bluetooth headset and possible voice integration software from apple in the near future that will be remedied. It truly is the only phone that you can actually upgrade its features and functionality, within its hardware limits of course.

Try that with you Treo!

I'm anxious to see what other 3G networks will be opened up beyond AT&T in the next year or so. I'm on T-Mobile and they have 3G but it's voice only. They are testing their data network in NY but it operates on a slightly different frequency than the current 3G iPhone works with. But I'm sure a simple firmware/software tweak can change that if the chipset is capable.

Sorry, just supporting your decision to go mac. You'll never go back!

I'm stuck in a contract with Verizon. So, I'm hoping they drop the price of the iPod Touch considering the new iPhone now costs the same price as a Touch. If they do, I'm definitely getting one.

A co-worker of mine is selling a used iPhone for $100. If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll get you his info.
