Let me start this by saying I love animals and if it were not for Peta's horrible way of doing business, I would support them to the max. I think animals add to the unique family atmosphere and owning a pet teaches kids to be responsible.
With that said, I have not been a fan of having a pet for children or myself. Even though they will teach my kids an important responsibility lesson, I just did not think I had time to own a pet. They require the same if not more attention than a child so because of that I have not had any sort of animal. The ones I had before I learned I did not have a pet either passed away or were given to better homes.
Well this past weekend we have become a pet owner. My daughter after months and months of pleading and her fulfilling a deal we made last year we received a rabbit from a close friend. The rabbit is on loan to us because of my fear that I just do not have time for it. The rabbit is awesome and is just like owning a cat except that a rabbit could care less what you are doing. We received an awesome two-story cage that is perfect for the bunny. I will post pictures later but I think this pet is a good starter pet for what I eventually want which is a dog. After taking the bunny for a walk yesterday or let me rephrase that let the bunny hop around because you cannot walk a bunny I really, really want a dog.
Pictures to come later.
