Do you have it? Want it? What is your entertainment setup?

I have rabbit ears picking up my HD channels, 50 inch plasma TV starving for more HD content. I don't know when AT&T's UVerse will be getting to my area.

Hi all. This is one of those things I can chime in on. After hooking up HDTV all day, and not having any attachments to any company or service, Here is what I have found.

When selecting an HDTV service. All the services have an amazing picture and sound. So how do you choose?

Simple, get all the channel line ups for all the services. Figure out what channels you want. The service that has the ones you want. Get that one.

Coustomer service at all of them is poor at best.
The bills at all of them go up at every chance.
All of them have equipment rental purchase and lease packages.
All of them need equipment.
All of them get better features and service on a reguler schudule.
All of them have limitations. That will upset you.
All of them play the numbers game to make us think they have the most channels

OK thank you for listening I hope it helps someone somewhere.

Sorry Nick, that's simply not true. From your house to the ISP's central office (or nearest hub), both DSL and Cable are, for the most part, "dedicated". And in both cases, once you get to the ISP's hub, your bandwidth is shared with everyone else, and THAT is usually where bottlenecks happen.

Well, I seem to have spoken too soon. The last few weeks I've noticed pixelation, skipped frames, sound skipping, etc on my HD channels. My wife says she even gets it on the non-HD channels, but I rarely watch those so I wouldn't know. My brother in law works for Comcast and when i told him about it, he said he'd get us a new DVR. Unfortunately that has not helped, so I'll have to ask him what he knows about Comcast compressing/recompressing to the point of degrading signal quality.

I'm sure as shit not going to pay for HD if it keeps up like this.

I haven't had a chance to talk to my brother-in-law about it, but as part of our Total Money Makover we've decided to drop our HD channels and also get Comcast's phone service. Net savings is about $40-50/month.
